An Evaluation of the Corporate Identity of Jollibee



Jollibee is one of the leading fast food chains in the Philippines. It only started as an ice cream shop and later on, have grown to the present fast food company. It is owned by a Chinese business man named Tony Tan.



Red means blood and fire. It means two things: positives and negatives. Red means aggression, bloodshed, war and hate while on the other side it means warmth, compassion and love.
“Christ in the Isenheim altarpiece wears a vermilion red robe. The red color entails a whole series of symbols: It is martyrs' red blood, it demonstrates power over life and death, but it also stands for faith, fullfilment and love. Others say that red denotes sexuality, good health, strength and physical vigor.
According to anyiams.com , red “Is associated with sense of seriousness, readiness for a serious spiritual or political encounter. It is also associated with blood, sacrificial rites and the shedding of blood. Red is therefore used as a symbol of heightened spiritual and political mood, sacrifice and struggle.”


David Johnson said that color red is the most intense color and it stimulates faster heartbeat and breathing. "Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier... attracts attention."



Jollibee is obviously in "red phenomenon" (the company uses the color red for its identity). "Red is power, hence the red power tie for business people" ( http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/colorselection/p/red.htm). This is why the company have chosen red as their color - for authority or power above other food businesses. Another reason is about on the "gudluck" that the color red gives (this is according to Chinese culture). Red for Chinese people, especially those business man (like Mr Tony Tan) denotes happiness, joy and prosperity. It is also appealing to eye because it grabs attention. Thus, Jollibee have chosen red above other existing colors.
